Branding
The Brown University Human Resources team was looking to consolidate all their different units in to one UHR department with a brand refresh. As part of the Brown identity system, I was tasked with developing UHR’s own look to help establish them as a resource across the university. While their logo would fall under the university affinity system, UHR asked to establish a treatment for their tagline, Engage, Discover, Achieve, as part of the new look. I established a bold treatment to express the department’s range of expertise and represents the diverse backgrounds of Brown’s employees.
The color palette and typography utilize the university’s assets, focusing on the strong red, yellow and black. For accessibility, there is a darker red and gold for digital applications. The typography uses Circular as the sans serif font which has solid, geometric shapes and is easy to read in both print and digital. An icon system was developed to designate each UHR unit, working closely with each team to narrow down their mark.
We provided a collection of photos, focusing on key features to elicit pride in Brown. Whether it be specific employees, logos, or recognizable campus shots, this photography treatment helps compliment the rest of the direction. I developed a monthly newsletter template, print collateral and a few digital assets to help UHR hit the ground running.
