Branding
Brown University’s School of Public Health (SPH) celebrated their 10 year anniversary in 2024. As lead designer, I was tasked with creating a brief visual identity which SPH’s internal marketing team would be able to apply to events and campaigns throughout the year long celebration.
I sought to capture the growth SPH experienced during the Covid-19 pandemic as well as nod to future growth. The mark was designed to emphasize SPH's current and future momentum by using thin lines and a bright color palette. Typically, I present two directions to present but with support from the art director, felt confident the tone was appropriate and significant for the 10 year celebration. This was based on multiple concepting meetings with the anniversary team in SPH, as well as senior leadership.
For the mark, I drew inspiration from the ticks on a timeline. Really emphasizing public health alongside the large number 10, this mark is meant to show a moment in SPH’s story. Building on SPH’s existing branding, I used their red as a pop for the 10 year mark, complimented with Brown’s sky blue color, a nod to sky’s the limit.
Once we delivered final files, we were asked to help work on a few different signage opportunities, pole and pop-up banners. I collaborated with the web team to develop a custom badge featuring the mark which animated in on the SPH website for the full anniversary year. I also served as reviewer for future work using the mark to ensure brand continuity.
